Q: What do I do with the file downloaded from www.realtimeexecutives.com ?
A: The install file, OPCHDBInstall.exe should be placed in a temporary folder.  From the temporary folder, run the installation program. The wizard will lead you through the installation process. 

Q: Do I need Administrator rights?
A: Yes. The installation adds entries to the system registry and this requires Administrator rights. You will also need Administrator rights when you enter your license code. 

Q: Do I need to restart my system after the installation?
A: Yes. The reason for the restart is to install the propagation service and start it. The propagation service is responsible for the propagation of data from the Second to the Minute database and from the Minute to the Hour database.

Q: What happens if I install over an existing installation of the OPCHDB software?
A: Two things mainly. First, you will lose you license key and will have to reenter it. Second, and more importantly, you will lose any historical data you have collected. 

Q: How can I remove OPCHDB from my system?
A: Go to the Control Panel and click on the  Add/Remove Programs applet. Scroll down to the "OPC Historical Database System" entry and select it. Then click on the Change/Remove button. Select the Automatic button and click on Next. Then click on the Finish button. After the uninstall, there may still be some files in the Rtx main folder which can be deleted manually.
