OPC Historical Database Tutorials:

OPC DA Client

The OPC Data Access Client program is used to collect data from OPC Data Access Servers. The collected data is then stored in a Historical Database. Collection is accomplished by defining collection lists and starting them. A collection list is a group of tags with the following commonality, all the tags in a list are collected from the same server, are collected at the same frequency, and their values stored in the same database.

OPC HDA Server

The OPC HDA Server interface provides stored historical data to OPC HDA Clients using the OPC HDA (Historical Data Access) 1.0 specification.

  • Provides OPC Tag Browsing.
  • Automatically serves up all tags for all databases.
  • Tag name, description, engineering units, high and low span values available for every variable.
  • Read only access to all tag values.
  • No configuration is required.

Quick Report

The Quick Report program is designed to provide a quick and simple way of reporting data from the Historical Databases. Basically all you need to do is choose a database, choose a subset, choose a time span, select one or more tags, and display the data. Though the program is simple, it has some important features.

  • You can preview and print the data.
  • You can save your report definitions and use them again at a later time
  • You can export the data to a CSV, HTML, or XLS file
  • You can display a simple graph of the data
  • You can show the Average, Minimum, and Maximum values over the selected time span

The number of tags and the number of time slots you can access is limited only by the amount of memory available.

Quick Graph

The Quick Graph program is designed to provide a quick and simple way of viewing data from the Historical Databases. Basically all you need to do is choose a database, choose a subset, choose a time span, select one or more tags, and display the data. Though the program is simple, it has some important features.

  • You can preview and print the graph.
  • You can save your graph definitions and use them again at a later time.
  • You can print a graph of the data either by using the portrait or landscape orientation.
  • You can display the chart in a 3D mode.
